- The charger must be new, installed at your address, and UL, ETL or cETL listed. Apply online after installation with your account number, charger model, VIN and paid receipt.
- Power Partner EV lets Austin Energy slow or pause charging during up to 15 peak events a month, mostly June to September; you can override any event.
Permits
A new 240V circuit or hardwired charger generally needs an electrical permit from Austin Development Services, usually pulled by your licensed electrician through the AB+C portal (types of permits). Fees: FY 2026–27 fee schedules. Surrounding cities (Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville) and Pedernales Electric or Oncor areas have their own rules.
