  • Xcel: you must enroll in Optimize Your Charge before applying for the rebate. EV Accelerate At Home closed to new Colorado applications on July 14, 2026.
  • Xcel: wiring must be done by a licensed electrician; the rebate is applied for in My Account after the work, and funds are first-come, first-served.
  • Optimize Your Charge: you need an Xcel Colorado electric account, a qualifying EV or charger, and Wi-Fi at the charging spot so usage data reaches Xcel. The $50 is a bill credit, not an install rebate.

Permits

Inside the City and County of Denver, a charger circuit at a single-family home or duplex with single-phase service of 400 amps or less can be issued as a quick permit (Denver Quick Permits). Quick permits carry no plan review fee, and the permit fee follows the valuation table in Denver’s fee policy (ADMIN 125/138). Townhome and multifamily rules are narrower. Aurora, Lakewood, Littleton, Centennial and other suburbs run their own permit offices.
