Permits
The City of Houston sells a dedicated Electrical Vehicle Charging Outlets permit to registered electrical contractors: $94.00 for Level 1, $100.71 for Level 2 and $107.42 for Level 3, plus a $33.56 administrative fee, with plans required only for Level 3 (Houston Permitting Center). - No CenterPoint Energy home charger rebate is listed because we could not confirm a current one on a CenterPoint page; third-party trackers say its earlier residential program closed in 2024.
- The permit page notes possible valuation-based plan review fees; we did not confirm whether they apply to a typical home Level 2 install.
- Retail electric provider EV plans and credits are not covered here.
- Permit fees in Houston suburbs and unincorporated Harris County are not covered here.
- Installer response testing (who replies to quote requests) has not been done yet.
- Third-party trackers report the federal 30C charger tax credit ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026; we have not verified this with the IRS.
