EV charger installation cost in Miami, 2026
Miami installers who publish prices quote about $400–$1,500 for a Level 2 install, and one puts most Miami homes at $1,200–$2,000 all-in with the charger and permit; older homes needing a 200A panel upgrade can reach $4,000–$6,500. FPL has no cash rebate, but its EVolution Home program installs a Level 2 charger with no upfront cost for $36 a month (or $27 if you already have a permitted 240-volt circuit) on a 10-year agreement.

- FPL EVolution Home is a 10-year agreement, not a month-to-month plan, and is not a rebate; the monthly charge covers the charger, installation and maintenance.
- Charging energy is billed separately on your FPL bill, at about 7¢/kWh off-peak and about 28¢/kWh on-peak, and the rates can change with Florida PSC approval.
- You keep the charger after completing the agreement, and you are responsible for weather damage and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Permits
The City of Miami charges residential trade permits (up to three units) at 0.50% of the estimated construction cost, fixed at $45.00 when the estimated cost is under $2,500.00, with a $110.00 minimum permit fee and state and Miami-Dade County surcharges on top (City of Miami fee schedule, adopted April 23, 2026). Homes in unincorporated Miami-Dade or other cities such as Miami Beach or Coral Gables pull permits from their own building departments.
- The City of Miami schedule lists both a $45 fee for residential work under $2,500 and a $110 minimum permit fee; we have not confirmed with the city which applies to a typical EV charger permit.
- A non-refundable application fee and solid waste surcharge are reported by third-party permit guides; we have not confirmed the amounts on the city schedule.
- Permit fees in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and other cities are not covered here.
- Installer response testing (who replies to quote requests) has not been done yet.
- Third-party trackers and one installer report the federal 30C charger tax credit ended for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026; we have not verified this with the IRS.
